Rugby not offered as an Olympics sport since 1924, will return for the 2016 Brazil Games. Having been a two time defending Olympic champion, US is gearing up by scouting out its best players. Recently it has been reported that Hope College Junior and Grand Rapids Gazelles member, Jake Fallon, is selected by USA Rugby to train at the Olympic Training Center from 12-18 March in Chula Vista, California. The 6 feet 2 inch lad is one of the 20 athletes nationwide to receive the invitation.
Fallon's succession through the rugby ranks gained impetus after he played on a team in the Meijer State Games of Michigan at East Kentwood High School. Following this he was invited to participate in the Midwest Thunderbirds rugby team at a camp in Ontario and then selected to join the under-20 camp in Birmingham. He is expected to next compete on the USA Men's National Rugby Sevens team from 25-27 March at the Sevens World Series Tournament in Hong Kong.
