Rugby World Cup Organizers Confident of Meeting Ticket Targets

The organizers of the Rugby World Cup have confirmed that there are around 170,000 tickets still waiting to be sold but they are confident of meeting the target. The chief executive of the Rugby NZ 2011 tournament, Martin Snedden has confirmed that they still have $26 million of tickets yet to be sold.
There are only ten days to go for the Rugby tournament and the target is $268.5 million. According to Snedden, the tickets will sell faster once the tournament begins and the organizers are expecting around $25 million worth of tickets to be left before the Rugby World Cup kicks off on September 9. The tournament will last till October 23 and thus the organizers have more than 8 weeks to pull in $26 million in ticket sales. The rate of selling has been increasing with $4.2 million worth of tickets being sold in last week itself while the sales for the previous three weeks combined were just $8.5 million.
The Tri Nations win of the Australians has also helped spur the ticket sales for the Rugby event. Snedden had paid Australia a visit last week to promote the tournament. International Rugby Board chief executive has made a statement asking fans to buy tickets early so that they don't miss out on any of the matches.
